Loved Hound

Your hound can be featured as a Loved Hound, too. Just bid in Greyhound Gang's on-line auction (during the first two weeks of every month) for your chance to be spotlighted. Once you've won, you'll email me pictures and text, and the following month, this is where you and your hound will be. Loved Hound. Our wish - love for them all.

Our Special Jazzy - written by Nancy Foster and Del Roehrick

Aria

What can we say about our Jazzy?

Even within the greythound realm, she is “just special”. Sweet disposition – sure. Comical when she plays and pounces her squeaky toys with her little butt in the air, and tail a wagg’n – no doubt. The phone rings and she comes a run’n – doing that cute little pouncy-feet thing, and happily nibbling on your finger tips saying… "It’s Mommy on the phone! It’s Mommy on the phone! Is she here yet, Daddy? Yip… Yip… Open the blinds Daddy so I can see…"

Heart warming when she and her big beautiful bat ears and petite little white brindle face are excitedly waiting in the front window as she watches Mommy pull into the driveway from a long day of work.

Perhaps one of her most endearing traits to an adoring dad, is how her little pointed nose persistently nudges its way between my elbow and side as I am working on the computer or doing a conference call… insisting “Daddy, I want Daddy hugs, and I want them now!”

Some of our fondest chuckle moments come from walks down the street when a Harley Davidson rumbles through or a Jeep with off road tires drives by, and Jazzy would run excitedly in place at a very animated high speed, but in very slow motion so as not to escape the bonds of her 5’ leash. Slow-motion shots of the $6 million dollar man have nothing over on AriaJazzy.

When people ask “do we have kids?” my beautiful wife Nancy instantly says “Yes – the 4-legged variety - awesome greyhounds, and they don’t even talk back; well not too much anyway since Jazzy was our talker!”

Jazzy (named after the form of music) came to us just about 3 ½ all-too-short years ago, from another very caring home after her then loving daddy was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The bittersweet opportunity to invite Jazzy into our special family that includes Mom, Dad, Honey Bear (our first fawn color greyhound who is now 8 – and who most unfortunately now suffers with bone cancer, but who has greyt happy pain pills) and Mr Maxmillian “Max” Bennett Foster (our 9 year old lover boy)… was one of the happiest, and in hindsight, one of the most profound days in the lives of our little family.

AriaPerhaps one of the most endearing qualities of our sweet, petite, animated, frequently timid, and always adorable bat-eared Jazz is the way that she has always made us feel about ourselves; always bringing us something to smile about at the right moment… and the underlying feeling that if the laws of KARMA brought her into our lives... then life with greyhounds in our home must be good. And with Jazzy, Honey and Max, life is only the best.

Thanks so much for coming in to our lives, Jazzy. With “forever love” your Mommy, Daddy, Honey, and your best buddy Max.

And thanks forever to the wonderful people at Nevada Greyhounds, for bringing Jazzy, Honey, Max, and now Sherry Baby, into our lives that will be enriched and changed forever… always for the better.

Jazzy left this earth recently, but will always be in our hearts.

I
